PGA/LPGA Professionals Offer Free 10-Minute Lessons During PGA Free Lesson Month in May

A one-on-one session with a PGA/LPGA Professional could smooth out a backswing or cut down on three putts. And throughout May, the price is right for those sessions. PGA/LPGA Professionals nationwide are offering free 10-minute sessions to help golfers of every age and skill level learn to play better golf during PGA Free Lesson Month. Log onto PlayGolfAmerica.com to find PGA/LPGA professionals participating in your area, then call to set up your free lesson.

Golf Digest says there are many things you can learn in 10 minutes, including getting your backswing in synch, improving your tempo to add distance, learning better distance control leaving the greens without a three putt, or aligning your ball to be a more accurate putter, or how to hit a tricky, long bunker shot to name a few.

Roughly 115,500 golfers turned out for free lessons last May and more than 820,000 have taken advantage of the program in a decade.

“Golfers across the country have an opportunity to get free expert instruction from a PGA or LPGA Professional in their area,” said Brian Whitcomb, president of The PGA of America. “We are proud to partner with Golf Digest Publications, the GOLF CHANNEL and Nike Golf to help give golfers of all ages and skill levels a chance to improve their game and give others an opportunity to learn the game.”

Every golfer who takes a free lesson and sends in a PGA Free Lesson Card is eligible to enter a sweepstakes to win a two-day/two-night golf getaway to The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., including hotel accommodations, round-trip, economy airfare, a two-day session at the PGA Learning Center and a custom-fit set of golf clubs and bag from Nike Golf. One hundred runners-up will receive a dozen Nike Ignite golf balls and PGA’s First Swing Golfer’s Guide.

PGA Free Lesson Month, one of the most successful growth-of-the-game initiatives in the golf industry, is a collaborative campaign spearheaded by The PGA of America, Golf Digest, the GOLF CHANNEL, Golf For Women and Golf World. Nike Golf is the official program sweepstakes sponsor and will donate $1 per sweepstakes card (up to 15,000) to the Tiger Woods Foundation and subsidize a complimentary subscription to Golf Digest.
